The German International Exhibition of Graphic Art in Frechen has a long tradition of exhibiting poineering work in the graphic arts and awarding prizes to outstanding artists. Founded in the year 1970, the international graphics competition was held biennially until 1983, and from then to the present has been held triennially.
In the year 2005, the Kunstverein zu Frechen e.V. will hold the fourteenth German International Exhibition of Graphic Art in cooperation with the city of Frechen. As in 2002, the exhibition will take place in the old workshop of the former Grube Carl briquette factory.
