Royal Academy - Summer Exhibition

7 June—15 August 2005

Our annual exhibition brings together a wide range of new work by living artists. The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, now in its 237th year, is the world's largest open contemporary art exhibition and features paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and architectural models. The majority of works in the exhibition are for sale. Prizes totalling £70,000 are offered to artists in various categories. This year’s special focus is the broad theme of the multiple image or object. Work by internationally acclaimed artists Paula Rego, Langlands and Bell, Mimmo Paladino, Richard Hamilton, Helen Frankenthaler, Chuck Close and Louise Bourgeois are on show. Ed Ruscha, elected an Honorary Academician in May last year, and representing America at this year’s Venice Biennale, is the featured artist.
